Tips for Stable Glucose

Excess insulin and glucose in the body can generate certain health consequences. For example Insulin Resistance, Type 2 Diabetes, Hormonal Imbalances, etc. That's why it's important to know how to keep your glucose spikes stable.

Sugar in the blood (Glucose) comes not only from the food that is eaten, but also from when the body secretes Cortisol (stress hormone). 

When Glucose levels rise, a hormone called Insulin is secreted. Excess insulin and glucose in the body can generate certain health consequences. For example Insulin Resistance, Type 2 Diabetes, Hormonal Imbalances, etc.

That's why it's important to know how to keep your glucose spikes stable. 

  1. Have an organised system

    Eat your vegetables first, then proteins and fats, and carbohydrates and sugars last.

  2. Eat salty foods and dishes for breakfast, not sweets.

    This will help to have more stable blood glucose spikes.

  3. Try to eat fruit for dessert

    Eat it whole including skin.

    Try to have something salty for breakfast like eggs, toast with avocado or hummus, and at the end eat some fruit. When we drink fruit juice we remove the fiber and all that is left is sugar. Avoid drinking juices made from fruits (vegetable juices, on the other hand, are sugar-free).

  4. Combine your foods wisely

    Always eat your carbohydrates (fruits, bread, pasta, rice, sugar, etc.) accompanied by some fat, vegetables and/or protein. The sugar spike will be more stable.

  5. Walk 10 minutes after each meal

    This helps metabolize sugar better

  6. When you eat something with sugar, eat it last as a dessert

    Never let sugar be the first thing that hits your stomach and your bloodstream

  7. Manage your stress.

    Whether it's meditating, breathing, organising your schedules, etc. Stress is a hormone called Cortisol. And by secreting Cortisol we secrete sugar and Insulin in order to survive (the body is very wise). You can be on the perfect low carb diet however if we don't manage our stress it doesn't do any good.

  8. Sleep 7-8 hours per night

    The body needs to rest and have enough time to go through its nocturnal functions. During the night we replenish our supply of hormones, process toxins, repair tissues, generate white blood cells vital for our immunity, remove stress loads and process heavy emotions. If we do not get enough sleep, the body cannot perform all the functions mentioned and that causes a lot of stress in the body, therefore sugar in our blood.
